Open Letter to the Public
Recently, several members of the public led by the East Pershing Field Neighborhood Association called the Central Avenue Special Improvement District’s attention to the fact that all of the lights were out under the overpass at the intersection of Ravine Avenue and New York Avenue in the southeastern section of the Heights. The resulting darkness posed a significant hazard for pedestrians, drivers and local residents. However, I am pleased to report to our neighbors that as of Friday, September 28, the lights are back on.
On behalf of the 450+ members of the CASID and the Jersey City Heights community, I wish to thank the Mayor’s Action Bureau, in particular director Jack Carley and staff members Theresa Haywood and Nydia Jurado, for ensuring that the NJ Department of Transportation (DOT) repaired the lights promptly. Thanks also go out to the DOT itself for the repairs and to the East Pershing Field Neighborhood Association for working with the CASID to address the lighting problem. It is precisely this type of cooperation and initiative that is enabling Jersey City to realize its full potential.
Sincerely,
President Michael Yun and the Board of Trustees
