Central Avenue Welcomes WaMu

Central Avenue recently welcomed a new business and community partner to the neighbhorhood: Washington Mutual (WaMu). After carrying out an extensive and innovative renovation of its new location at 375 Central Avenue, WaMu hosted a grand opening celebration on July 18, featuring food, face painting, music, clowns, and words of welcome from Mayor Jerramiah Healy and Heights Councilman Bill Gaughan.

As part of the grand opening ceremony, branch manager Louis Hoxha presented a $3950 check from WaMu to PACO (Puertrriqueños Asociados for Community Organization), a community-based agency that has been providing social services, educational opportunities, and housing development to the Jersey City community for nearly 40 years.
