Central Avenue Reuseable Tote Bags Are Back!

Jersey City, NJ–The Central Avenue SID Management Corporation is pleased to announce it will distribute over 11,000 reusable tote bags within its shopping district starting on Small Business Saturday, November 28, and through the holidays with a qualifying purchase and while supplies last at participating businesses. This annual tradition is a favorite amongst local residents and shoppers who love the “Shop Central Avenue” branded bags.

“It has been a difficult year for small businesses to say the least,” says Sanford Fishman, CASID President and longtime pharmacist at Bond Drugs. “A lot has been disrupted due to the pandemic. Regardless, CASID Trustees felt it was important to move forward with this SID program to bring some holiday cheer to residents, shoppers, and businesses alike. Although the state recently signed new legislation to ban plastic bags statewide by May 2022, Central Avenue and Jersey City stay ahead of the curve on this matter.”

Central Avenue businesses, working through their SID program, have now distributed over 42,000 reusable tote bags since this yearly practice began in 2015. For a list of participating businesses and locations, please visit www.CentralAveSID.org.

Shoppers will also be treated to Central Avenue’s annual holiday decorations which include over 130 lighting pieces and forty festive banners spread throughout the district. Shoppers can also save half the sales tax on retail purchases at registered UEZ businesses.
