Jersey City, NJ – The Central Avenue Special Improvement District Management Corporation has helped thirty six local businesses come together to launch a reusable bag campaign. Over two thousand tote bags and one thousand reusable plastic bags are now being distributed to customers while supplies last through the holiday shopping season.
“Jersey City’s neighborhood and business community are going green,” said Sanford Fishman, CASID President and pharmacist at Bond Drugs. “Jersey City is becoming very conscientious of the environment and more businesses are listening to their customers and following in their footsteps. Many participating businesses will hand out the bags on Small Business Saturday which falls on November 28th this year.”
The CASID recognizes that businesses are slowly moving away from plastic shopping bags as more customers get into the habit of bringing their own. Small businesses are encouraging the practice by helping to spread reusable bags through the community.
The stylish Central Avenue/ The Heights tote bags come in two colors: burgundy and green. All the bags list the campaign sponsors by business name, address and telephone number. Anyone who would like a reusable bag should request one during his or her next Central Avenue visit.
