CASID Gives Thanks To The City Of Jersey City, City Departments, and The Jersey City Community

CASID, City Of Jersey City, And The Community In Collaboration To Help Neighbors In Need

This past Sunday December 6, 2009 the Jersey City Community, and the Central Avenue Special Improvement District, came together in true Holiday spirit hosting a fundraiser benefit for JC resident Jacqueline Kelly, 61 years old whom is dying of cancer.  In these hard economic times it is very difficult for people to make ends meet, and when it comes to families like the Kelly family who fear no solution that’s when everyone’s contribution no matter how little it may seem makes a huge difference. This unique Wrestling demonstration fundraiser with pro- wrestlers from the Total Mayhem Professional Wrestling was only made possible in such a short time period because of the guidance and assistance from the following people to whom we give special thanks; Paula Barna (Director of JC Division of Commerce), Maryanne Kelleher (Director of JC Cultural Affairs), Tom Comey (Chief of JC Police Department), Peter Nalbach (Deputy Chief of JC Police Department), Sean Connors (Chief of Staff to JC Police Director), Mary Spinello (Director of the JC Parking Authority), David Wise (Special Events Coordinator for JCPA), Carmine Scarpa (Asst. Corporation Counsel for JC Law Department), and Liberty Health.  Together with the collaboration of the City of Jersey City and the Jersey City Community the money raised will relieve some financial burden the family is facing during these tough times.

This is the time that we are able to see more unity than any other time of the year, and we expect that both the community and the City lend a helping hand to others who are struggling and see no light at the end of the tunnel. Doing good works such as this can only make us and by this I mean our City, our residents, our business community, our shoppers and our visitors stronger and happier during this upcoming New Year. In addition on behalf of the Kelly family CASID would like to additional give great thanks to our officials Jersey City Mayor Healy, Councilman Bill Gaughan, Councilman Peter Brennan, Assemblyman Vincent Prieto, Freeholder Anthony Romano for sharing their warm hearts and taking the initiative in making a difference for their neighbors in need.

Sincerely,

President Michael Yun and the Board of Trustees
