Jersey City, NJ– The Central Avenue S.I.D. Management Corporation is again seeking creative proposals for public art installations within the Central Avenue shopping district. Selected artwork will be commissioned for installation late summer/ early fall and paid upon completion. The submission deadline is Friday, August 4th.
CASID is proud to be an organization that brings an abundance of public art into the neighborhood. “As we continue to expand our artistic impact in the district, with the help of Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, we continue to grow our exciting outdoor gallery” said Gary Soloman, Secretary of Central Avenue Special Improvement District and owner of Hauptman Floor and Window Covering Co. (307 Central Ave). “If you are an artist with a collection of ideas ready to dive into your next big project, Central Avenue is ready for you!”
Central Avenue prides itself on the outdoor art gallery along the shopping corridor. New Jersey Advance Media recently named Central Avenue the most eye-popping one mile walk in Jersey City. This year will mark Central Avenue’s thirteenth consecutive year installing artwork. With over 20 murals on the avenue, our colorful artwork is appreciated by hundreds of shoppers each day.
All artists interested in participating must complete and adhere to the guidelines in the Request for Proposal (RFP) which is available online: www.JCHeights.com. A hard copy of the application can also be obtained from the CASID office. It is a competitive process allowing all artwork and artists an equal opportunity to be selected.
This program has been managed by the CASID and made possible by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a division of the Department of State, and administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, Thomas A. DeGise, Hudson County Executive and the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
