Our Main Street is seeing many changes with more to come in 2022! Central Avenue began to see the difference in the new Streetscape with new sidewalks, repaved roads, new trash cans, bikes racks, benches, and soon a new parking garage! We look forward to the completion as PSE&G finishes on the new decorative poles. This year Central Avenue saw seventeen (17) new businesses, such as Jupiter Knights (447 Central), Stacks Creamery (465 Central), IFone Spot (396 Central), City Tax Services (396A Central), Mi Bandara Heights (408 Central), The Legend (355 Central), Cali Shakes (490 Central), Marty’s (488 Central), Heights Fitness (338 Central) to name a few! Central Avenue added three (3) art installations this year! Thank you to the wonderful artists for adding color to our commercial corridor. The annual Tote Bag Program was another successful initiative with over 5,000 tote bags distributed during the holiday season. Central Avenue was a prime location for COVID-19 tests, and later on vaccines! Heights Halloween Window Painting Contest resumed with over 60+ local Heights Students adding their creativity to our avenue. This year Central Avenue partnered with Beyond the Plate to begin weekly food tours on our Main Street, which has been growing with popularity! Cheers to continuing to push our main street community forward in 2022.
