Jonathan was born in Cali, Colombia, and has lived in Jersey City since 2013. Gomez joined the Central Avenue Special Improvement District in 2023 as Mayor Steven Fulop's designee. Jonathan graduated from The Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, with a degree in Economics. He is pursuing a Master's in Public Administration at Columbia University - School of International and Public Affairs. Gomez also swam professionally for his home country Colombia representing them in many international competitions, including the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he finished 15th in the Mens 200 Meters Butterfly.
