Call For Art 2022

Jersey City, NJ– The Central Avenue Special Improvement District is once again seeking creative proposals for public art installations within the Central Avenue shopping district. Selected artwork will be commissioned for installation in late summer/ early fall and paid upon completion. The submission deadline is Friday, July 29th, 2022.

This year is very exciting since. CASID increased the commission range from 6k to 10k! Artists are tasked to present creative proposals which may be selected and added to the one (1) mile stretch that is the outdoor art gallery along the Height’s main thoroughfare.

“The art installation period has been a fan favorite for the community as a whole. They watch together as new color comes to our Avenue” said Sanford Fishman President of Central Avenue Special Improvement District and longtime pharmacist at Bond Drugs (371 Central Ave). “This year we hope to see more interactive artwork for the community to immerse themselves into the art.”

All artists interested in participating must complete and adhere to the guidelines in the Request for Proposal (RFP) which is available online: It is a competitive process allowing all artwork and artists an equal opportunity to be selected.

This program is organized by the CASID and made possible by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a division of the Department of State, and administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, Thomas A. DeGise, Hudson County Executive and the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
