The Hudson County Intergenerational Community Band (HCIC Band) provides opportunities for Junior and Senior High School students from throughout Hudson County to play together in a performing instrumental ensemble.  In this unique after school program, students are coached by and play alongside professional musicians from the Hudson County community in weekly rehearsals and in concert performances, learning valuable lessons in instrumental technique, music making and personal discipline.

The HCIC Band also welcomes Hudson County’s amateur adult instrumentalists, even those who haven’t played for some time, to re-kindle their love of music making by participating in this ensemble.  Professional musicians and instrumental teachers receive valuable networking opportunities through our networking website, www.hudsoncountymusic.com.

The HCIC Band is Hudson County’s first standing community band in recent times.  Today, it provides a weekly forum that engages young people in active music making, creates a performance opportunity for Hudson County professional, student and amateur musicians to perform, draws together all musicians in collaboration and attracts a culturally diverse audience from throughout the Hudson County community.  The HCIC Band has presented two successful concerts, in the Fall of 2006 and in the spring of 2007.

This concert is sponsored in part by generous grants from the Provident Bank Foundation Hudson County Office of Cultural Affairs, the Office of the Hudson County Freeholders, and the Healy Foundation.
