Orange and Olive Caterers and Chef’s Table (Orange and Olive), originally opened in 2011 as a catering company founded by partners, Chef Sam Fertik and Aaron Nemani, based in The Heights, a burgeoning section of Jersey City. Finding quick success with their catering operation, they have now added a Chef’s Table with a ten-course Tasting Menu showcasing Chef Sam’s cuisine. The beautifully crafted wood Chef’s Table, handmade with reclaimed wood by Chef Sam, can seat up to 12 guests for regular reservations and 20 for private bookings. Overlooking the kitchen, guests are able to interact with the Chefs as they create an unforgettable dining experience. The Chef’s Table is BYO and available by reservation only with two seatings a night Wednesdays through Saturdays. The space is also available for hosting intimate cocktail parties up to 60 guests, cooking classes or team building events.
Orange and Olive is an ideal partnership with Chef Sam spearheading kitchen operations, and jointly overseeing dining and event planning operations with the congenial Aaron who holds a degree in Hospitality. Sous Chef Terry, a CIA classmate of Sam’s, reunited after working at other restaurants to team up in the Orange and Olive kitchen where together the team prepares all food for the intimate Chef’s Table, as well as the catering business which boasts clients such as Microsoft, NCR and Anthropologie. The ten-course menu of stunningly sophisticated, flavorful yet unpretentious American fare changes frequently based on seasonality, locally sourced ingredients and Chef’s whim. The Chef’s Tasting menu is inclusive of filtered water by Vivreau, coffee and tea by filicori zucchini, service and tax. There is no liquor license so diners are encouraged to bring their own wine and spirits. Mocktails and additional courses are available for a supplemental fee. Once you’ve purchased your ticket via their convenient online booking system there is nothing further to do upon arrival except and eat, drink and enjoy.
The understated elegance and charm of the space coupled with the communal Chef’s table create an intimate dining experience at Orange and Olive. Whether you are a group of 2 or 12, it is the perfect place to simply enjoy a great meal and is available for private bookings of 20 to celebrate special occasions or host private events. The space also accommodates small cocktail events up to 60 people.
With their off-premise catering arm, Orange and Olive’s mission is to treat every corporate event, wedding and party as if it were their own – delivering style, edge, and flavor. To bring their customers’ visions to life, they provide full event design and décor services using customized stations, tabletop, décor and linen rentals along with staging, lighting, projection, AV services and temporary structures via a wide array of in-house and outside specialists.
Reservations are required for the Chef’s Table’s nightly seating at 7 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and 2 seatings Friday and Saturday at 6 pm and 8:30pm. On-site cooking classes and team-building events are also available for booking (inquire for details and pricing). Located at 398 Central Avenue in Jersey City, a short distance from New York City and Hoboken, they are a short taxi ride from Path station and convenient to NJ transit trains, light rail and buses and are easily accessible from Routes 3, 1&9 and NJ Turnpike with street parking available.
