The new hot stuff in The Heights neighborhood is Firehouse Blazing Pizza at 488 Central Avenue. Mayor Steven Fulop, the Jersey City Office of Small Business Services, and the Central Avenue Special Improvement District joined Firehouse Blazing Pizza on Friday, April 28th to kick off their grand opening weekend with a ribbon cutting celebration.

The business owners, Felix and Alicia Santiago, Aliesette Russo (daughter), and Sandra Santiago (daughter-in-law), are ready for this family owned business to roar onto scene like a real fire engine. The firehouse-themed pizzeria was inspired by Felix Santiago who is a Vietnam Veteran and first Latino to serve as a Captain in Hoboken’s Fire Department.

“We wanted to open a place where families and friends could better connect and bond,” says owner Felix Santiago. “With all the love and effort incorporated into building and creating Firehouse Blazing Pizza, we hope people will take advantage of the atmosphere and enjoy family time at our place.”

The firehouse experience starts with the roll-down door and includes engine numbered table booths, photos on the wall from historic fires in Jersey City and Hoboken, and pieces of equipment that were used by retired firemen.

“A firehouse turned pizzeria is such a fun idea,” said Sanford Fishman, CASID President and longtime pharmacist at Bond Drugs. “We congratulate the Santiago family on their new venture and welcome their investment and addition of new jobs into our neighborhood. Any pizza place can sell you a slice but anyone who visits Firehouse Blazing Pizza will not forget it anytime soon.”
